35 Days

If it was at all positive I would call it an epiphany. The sudden realisation that I only have 5 weeks left before my major project should be finished (should be, as opposed to will be. This is a soft deadline – it’s not due for another two weeks after. But that’s two weeks of troubleshooting time that will be absolutely necessary). What have I got to show right now? An idea. A clearer idea than two weeks ago, but nonetheless not a great deal of material evidence. The notion of working steadily towards a goal seems to offend many university students, or is it just Australian students? I don’t know, but the behaviour of various exchange students in my course suggests that it is universal!

I seem to be regaining conscious control over my sleeping patterns of late, I’m finding it easier to sleep before the sun comes up – although waking up is as hard as ever. The self imposed hiatus of games seemed to have helped, but with the recent release of the Jedi Academy demo and the Homeworld 2 demo got me back on the habit. Not feeling inspired? Might I suggest a dose of dual lightsaber action – there is nothing, nothing, cooler than wielding a lightsaber in each hand whilst jumping about slicing and dicing. You even get a slow-mo when you kill someone : )

On a similar note last Sunday I rediscovered the joys of car shopping (there really is nothing more satisfying than automotive retail therapy). The sun, the smell, the thrusting and parrying of words with the salesperson, the thrill of the hunt, the surprises… well perhaps I’m being overly romantic with the whole thing but it is fun. Especially when one comes across something unexpected, which in this case was the discovery of my girlfriend’s (we were shopping for her) dream car, a late 90′s Peugeot 306 Cabriolet in Canary Yellow (by far the best colour for that car), second hand, at an achievable price. Absolutely beautiful car, got the goods to back up the pose and a dash of practicality. Possibly the only thing against it is the fact that French cars still don’t hold together as well as Japanese cars.

Oh, but the personality….
